Replacing the battery on a Nissan Cedric

The correct fitment for your Nissan Cedric, on the van and fitted where you are. Free test, fitted price on the phone, up to 24 months warranty.

Where this model left the factory with an AGM or EFB battery, that is what goes back in. Fitting down a level to save money is a false economy on this car.

The Dubai Sports City factor

How Dubai Sports City Heat Affects a Nissan Cedric Battery

Cold weather gets blamed for dead batteries because that is when they finally fail. The damage is done in summer.

  1. 25°C

    Baseline

The temperature every published battery life figure assumes.

  2. 35°C

    Ageing doubles

Chemical reaction rate roughly doubles for every 10°C above baseline.

  3. 45°C

    Water loss

Electrolyte evaporates through the vents. Plates begin to be exposed.

  4. 55°C+

    Grid corrosion

Typical under-bonnet peak in a Dubai Sports City August. Positive grids corrode; capacity does not return.

  • A battery rated for five years in Europe averages two to three here.
  • The failure usually shows in the first hot week of the season, not in the last.
  • Heat-damaged batteries lose cranking current before they lose voltage, so a rested voltage reading alone will not catch it.
  • AGM tolerates it best, which is why we stock it heavily for Dubai Sports City and not as an upsell.

Getting the fitment right

Which Battery Does a Nissan Cedric Need?

Four numbers decide it. Get them right and the battery drops in, clamps down and charges the way the manufacturer intended.

70Ah760A (EN)AGM278 × 175 × 190 mm12345
Example: a DIN LN3 fitment for a mid-size sedan
  1. 1

    Case sizeDIN, JIS or BCI

The physical box - length, width, height and where the hold-down clamp bites. A DIN 74 will not sit in a JIS NS70 tray.

  2. 2

    Terminal layoutPositive left or right

Reversed posts mean the cables will not reach. This is the single most common wrong-battery mistake.

  3. 3

    CapacityAh

How long it can run the car's electronics with the engine off. Match or exceed the original - never go below it.

  4. 4

    Cold crankingCCA

How hard it can turn the engine. In Dubai Sports City the number matters for margin, not for cold: heat robs cranking power too.

  5. 5

    TechnologyAGM, EFB or standard

Set by the car, not by budget. A start-stop car needs what it was built for.

Pick your make, model and year on this page and we will tell you the exact fitment, the price fitted, and how soon a van can reach you.

Tell them apart

Nissan Cedric: Battery or Alternator?

Both faults end with a car that will not start, and swapping the wrong part costs you twice. Two columns, one test each.

  • Slow crank that gets worse over a week
  • Fine after a jump start and fine the next day
  • Dash and lights are dim before you turn the key
  • Battery is three years old or more
  • Rested voltage below 12.2V after a night parked
  • Terminals furred with white or blue powder
  • Battery warning lamp lit while driving
  • Engine dies within minutes of a jump start
  • Headlights brighten and dim with engine speed
  • Whining or growling that rises with revs
  • Burnt-rubber smell from a slipping belt
  • Charging voltage under 13.5V with the engine running

Our tester reads both - battery health first, then charging output with the engine running. If the alternator is the fault, we say so and we do not sell you a battery.

The label, decoded

Ah and CCA on a Nissan Cedric Battery

Two numbers on every battery, and they answer two completely different questions.

Example battery label and tester reading

AhAmpere-hours

How long can it run things with the engine off?

A 70Ah battery can in theory supply 3.5 amps for twenty hours. In practice it tells you how long your parked car can feed a tracker, an alarm and the modules before it cannot start. Bigger Ah means more reserve, not more starting power.

CCACold cranking amps

How hard can it turn the engine?

The current the battery can deliver for thirty seconds at −18°C while staying above 7.2V. Nobody sees −18°C in Dubai Sports City, but CCA is still the honest measure of a battery's punch - and heat-damaged batteries lose CCA first.

RCReserve capacity

How far can you get if the alternator quits?

Minutes of 25-amp draw before the battery drops to 10.5V. It is the number that decides whether you reach a garage or stop on Sheikh Zayed Road.

SoHState of health

How much of the original battery is left?

What our conductance tester reports as a percentage. Under 60% is a replacement whatever the date on the label says.

Match Ah and CCA to the manufacturer's figure or go above it. Never go below either one to save money.

How to Make a Nissan Cedric Battery Last Longer

None of this is expensive. All of it buys months in a climate that takes them.

  1. 01

Park in shade whenever you can

Under-bonnet temperature is the single biggest factor in battery life in Dubai Sports City. Covered parking is worth about six months.

  2. 02

Take one long drive a week

Thirty minutes of continuous running puts back what a week of short hops takes out.

  3. 03

Keep the terminals clean and tight

Wire-brush the powder off, refit, and smear a little petroleum jelly on the posts. Two minutes, once a year.

  4. 04

    Kill the parasitic drain

Have trackers and dash cams wired to a switched feed or a proper cut-off, not permanently live.

  5. 05

Use a maintainer if the car sits

Travelling for weeks? A trickle charger or a disconnected negative terminal saves the battery and the trip home from the airport.

  6. 06

Switch everything off before you switch off

Headlights, AC blower and heated seats draw hard the moment you restart. Turn them down first.

  7. 07

Get it tested twice a year

A ninety-second conductance test tells you whether you have a summer left. Ours is free, wherever you are parked.

  8. 08

Fix the charging fault, not the symptom

A battery that keeps dying is usually telling you about the alternator or an earth strap.

Two minutes, no tools

Is Your Nissan Cedric Battery Dead? Check It in Two Minutes

You can narrow it down from the driver's seat before anyone opens the bonnet. Work down the list - the first answer that fits is usually the right one.

  1. 01

Turn the key. What do you hear?

Rapid clicking means the battery has voltage but no current to spare. One click means less than that. Silence with a dark dash means flat, a blown main fuse, or a bad earth.

  2. 02

Do the dash lights come on at full brightness?

Bright dash, no crank points at the starter. Dim or flickering dash that dies when you turn the key points at the battery.

  3. 03

Do the headlights hold up while cranking?

Headlights that collapse to a dull orange under crank are the clearest free test there is. That is a battery at the end of its life.

  4. 04

Does it start off a jump and then die when disconnected?

That is a charging fault, not a battery fault - the alternator is not putting anything back.

  5. 05

    What does a voltmeter say?

12.6V rested is healthy. 12.2V is half charged. Below 12.0V will not start a hot engine, and below 10.5V under crank means replace it.

12.6V
Healthy, fully rested
12.2V
Half charged
12.0V
Will not start a hot engine
10.5V
Under crank: replace it

Our van carries a conductance tester. It reads state of health, state of charge and cold cranking amps in about ninety seconds, and we show you the printout before you decide anything.

Straight answers

Car Battery Replacement FAQs

The questions we are asked on the phone every day, answered the way we answer them there.

How long does a car battery replacement take?

About twenty minutes from the moment we park. Testing is a couple of minutes, the swap itself is ten to fifteen, and registering the battery on a start-stop car adds five.

How fast can you reach me in Dubai Sports City?

Typically 25 minutes, 24/7, every day. Peak traffic and basement car parks add a little; we give you a real time on the call, not a marketing one.

Do you charge if I decide not to buy?

No. Testing the battery and the charging system is free whether or not it ends in a sale.

What warranty do I get?

Up to 24 months on the battery itself, logged against your plate. If it fails inside the term we come back out and replace it - the warranty covers the visit too.

Do you replace batteries at night?

Yes. We run 24/7, every day, and roughly a third of our calls are between 10pm and 6am.

Can you do it in an underground car park?

Yes. Give us the building, the level and the bay. Our vans are height-cleared for standard basements and we bring the stock down by trolley when they are not.

Will I lose my radio code or my settings?

No. We hold power to the car with a memory saver while the battery is out, so the ECU, radio, clock and window calibration all survive the swap.

Do you take the old battery away?

Always, and its scrap value comes off your bill. It goes to a licensed recycler with a transfer note.

Do you fit AGM and start-stop batteries?

Yes, and we register them to the car where the model requires it. Fitting a standard battery to a start-stop car is the fastest way to kill both the battery and the start-stop function.

Which car brands do you cover?

All of them. The vans carry DIN, JIS and BCI fitments, which between them cover Japanese, Korean, German, American, Chinese and British cars.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes - Tabby and Tamara split the total into four payments at no extra cost, alongside card, cash and Apple Pay.
